Early season 2010-11

So far this season fas been fairley productive. I first got my house out on the 3rd of december. On the first day we ended up seeing 50 to 60 fish and stuck ond nice 31inch 8lb fish. In the days to come the action slowed I'm thinking because of below normal temps, but I did manage to see a 15-20 lb fish that wouldn't give me a good throw. Some of the bigger lakes were taking longer to make ice but I did finally get my smaller house out on a big lake on 12-10-2010. And when I finally did get a chance to sit in it the thuresday after, the first fish that I saw was 20+Lbs. Unfortinatley though it would not come into the hole far enough to get a good throw. I think the next few days are going to be exelent for seeing good fish, so make sure you get out before the january cold snap comes and shuts the fish down for a while.
1-30-10 It has been a while since I have updated or added much to the site because of poor fishing. After a longer than normal lull in the action I finally caught a break. Me and my friends Beau and Tyler took a trip to a private lake that Beau's Grandma and Grandpa live on. Through the years I have heard story's of huge fish being put (as Beau's grandpa would say) on the right side of the ice on this lake. We ended up going up the night before and using the advantage of the full moon to set up our houses in the dark. The next day we immediately had fish action that lasted all day long. We had fish in our spear holes the entire day, and had quite a few flags on our tip ups too. The action started to slow down towards 4pm. I was just about to call it a day when I decided to switch decoys and see what happens. As soon as the decoy hit the bottom of the line it hit! I could not believe it. I got ready for it to turn back around so I could throw at it. It wasn't going to be that easy though. The fish swam right through the hole and ate my sucker minnow in a flash. Again it swept around and grabbed my decoy. It stopped with half of the fish still in the hole and I knew that this was my chance. I threw and stuck the pike. A little far back for my likings but what can you do. I through the fish out on to the ice and the beast was done. 14.52lbs 39inch (see pics under pike pics). A good day on the ice with some good friends. Special thanks to beau's Grandparents for all of their kindness and hospitality.
